How I Found My Way

Birdie's Way: Finding Myself Through Creativity, Scent, and Starting Over

Birdie's Baux didn't begin with body butter.

In fact, when I first started my business journey, I was selling products that I thought people wanted. Cups, accessories, and other trending items seemed like a good place to start. I was learning about marketing, branding, and entrepreneurship, and like many new business owners, I was trying to figure out what would work.

The problem wasn't the products.

The problem was that none of them truly felt connected to me.

Around that same time, life was changing in ways I hadn't expected. I was navigating motherhood, working a job that no longer aligned with the future I envisioned for myself, and trying to hold on to pieces of my identity that seemed to get buried beneath responsibilities and expectations.

Then the world changed.

When the pandemic arrived, plans I had for another business venture came to an abrupt halt. Like many people, I found myself at a crossroads. I could either give up on the dream or find another way forward.

I chose to keep going.

What followed was a season of reflection, prayer, creativity, and a lot of honest conversations with myself. Instead of asking what would sell, I started asking a different question:

What feels like me?

The answer led me back to something I had been doing long before I ever thought about selling skincare products.

Years earlier, I was the person mixing shea butter and cocoa butter together for my own skin. I loved the process. I loved creating something with my hands. I loved how simple ingredients could become part of a daily ritual that made me feel good.

For the first time, I wasn't building a business around a product.

I was building a business around a genuine connection.

As Birdie's Baux evolved, I gave myself permission to lean into the things that have always inspired me: creativity, nostalgia, scent, self-care, and self-expression. Even the colors of the brand are rooted in a favorite color combination I've loved since childhood. The name itself comes from a nickname that has been part of my story for years.

Every detail became an opportunity to create something that felt authentic.

My career taught me discipline, consistency, quality control, and attention to detail. My life experiences taught me resilience. My creativity gave me vision. Birdie's Baux became the place where all of those pieces could finally exist together.

Today, Birdie's Baux is more than body care.

It's a reminder that starting over isn't failure.

Sometimes it's how you find your way back to yourself.

And if there's one thing I've learned through this journey, it's that building something meaningful isn't about chasing every trend or following someone else's path. It's about having the courage to create your own.

This is Birdie's Way.
